Sean

Author: Daniel P. Fitzpatrick Jr.
Publisher: Unlimited Publishing
Genre:  Crime/Thriller

The history of the IRA's struggle for independence against the English has spawned many books both of fiction and non-fiction across the globe. Mr. Fitzpatrick’s fine crime novel is another to add to that list.
Sean O'Brien is a simple farmer but much like his family, is a follower and agent of the IRA. He is sent from the Emerald Isle to England in a bid to stop “the old enemy” and have a united Ireland. However, a man by the name of O.K. Cromwell, a computer hacker for MI6, is monitoring all IRA activists in his country and may put a stop to Mr. O' Brien's efforts. But Sean is always one step ahead of his British rivals and soon learns that there's more to life than just helping Ireland's cause.
Right from the start, the author has you hooked in this wonderful novel. The reader is introduced to both sides of the fence in that we get both perspectives from the IRA's activist point of view and also the British opinion on the "Irish problem". Fitzpatrick explains why people like Seán do what they do and why certain people in Britain still resent the Irish and their very existence. In some peculiar way, whether it was intentional or not, Fitzpatrick creates an anti-Irish and also an anti-British feeling simultaneously. The storytelling is excellent, seamlessly weaving fiction with actual true stories. He also injects some lessons in history, piloting a plane, and the process of the stock exchange into the plot and although they are interesting, sometimes it can drag on a bit becoming rather monotonous as Fitzpatrick can delve into too much detail.
